Contact lenses
There are two categories of lenses to choose from with a few things to keep in mind

There are two general categories of contact lenses – soft and rigid gas permeable (RGP).
Soft lenses are made from soft flexible plastics, making them extremely comfortable after a few days of adaptation.
These lenses can be used to correct various vision problems, including:
-
Nearsightedness (myopia)
-
Farsightedness (hyperopia)
-
Blurred vision (astigmatism)
-
Age-related loss of close-up vision (presbyopia)

Soft contact lenses come in various types, such as:
-
Daily wear lenses.
-
Two-week disposable lenses.
-
Monthly disposable lenses.
-
Overnight (extended) wear lenses.
-
Some soft contact lenses can be worn for up to 30 days continuously, including while you sleep.
-
This lens wear may cause complications if not taken care of properly. Some complications include buildup of debris under the lens, corneal problems or eye infections.
-

Always remove your lenses each night for cleaning and disinfecting.
Soft contact lenses are available in most prescriptions and a variety of colours.

Rigid gas-permeable (RGP) lenses provide clear vision for people with most vision problems. They are are more durable and breathable (allowing oxygen to reach the cornea) when compared to soft contact lenses. The firm plastic material of the lens helps it retain its shape and provides a consistently sharp vision when compared to more pliable lenses.

RGP lenses are not as comfortable as soft lenses and might require a longer adaptation time. However, if your prescription doesn't change and you take care of your lenses, you can use the same pair for up to two to three years.
