Alignment & Repairs

Your spectacle lens needs to be held firmly in a fixed and stable position in front of your eyes for it to correct your vision successfully. Hence, glasses frames are particularly important for maintaining correct lens alignment

alignment and repairs

A comfortable fitting frame will ensure maximum long-term satisfaction with your spectacles. It is essential to select a frame with adequate dimensions to allow manipulation and adjustments once the lenses have been fitted. Since nobody has a perfectly symmetrical head or face and each individual has unique features, the way in which a spectacle frame sits on the face will differ from person to person.

Alignment

The shape or size of your head may require very long temples (side pieces) or very short ones. The position of the ear, where the temple sits in relation to the place where the frame sits on the nose, can hugely influence the fit and optics of spectacles. Minor adjustments may be required to ensure your frame fits perfectly on your face.

Repairs

Metal frames can be soldered back together. If the frame is plastic or titanium there are no repair options available, a new part will need to be ordered. We also stock nose pads and screw replacements.

Tips on how to prevent your spectacles from breaking:

  • Be gentle. Don’t pull them off. Pulling spectacles off your face can bend one side of the frame and wear out the hinges, resulting in a misaligned frame or a broken temple.

  • Find your fit. If you need to wear your spectacles while working out or playing a sport, opt for our sportswear range. These spectacles are designed for high-impact activities.

  • Handle the heat. Extreme temperatures can weaken your frame, making it more susceptible to damage. Avoid leaving your spectacles in your car on hot summer days and cold winter nights.
